Quoted exactly what they said they would. Showed up on the day they said. Cleaned up properly at the end of each day. Roof looks better than the day we bought the place.
Bega roofers. Heritage homes, modern re-roofs, and everything between.
Bega has a heritage core, a working-farm hinterland, and a swag of houses rebuilt since the 2019-20 fires. We've worked across all of it. The crew lives 25 minutes down the road in Merimbula and we know the Bega Valley Shire Council DA process for heritage roofs.

What we do in Bega.
Bega's housing stock splits into a few clear groups. There's the heritage core of the town itself, where a handful of streets sit inside the Bega Valley Shire Council heritage area and any roof work needs to keep the streetscape intact. There's the post-war and mid-century homes that ring the centre, most still on terracotta tile or first-generation steel. There's the rural-residential blocks out toward Tarraganda, Bega River and the Bemboka turn-off, where bushfire-prone-land status changes what material we're allowed to use. And there's the dairy country, where the original farmhouse roofs are often 50+ years old and the working sheds are a separate job again.
We do everything across that range. Full re-roofs in Colorbond or Zincalume, tile-to-Colorbond conversions on older homes that have outlived the terracotta, repairs after the storms that rip through the valley every June, restoration on tile roofs where the underlying structure is sound. For heritage homes we work to the Council's documentation requirements, including matching profile and colour where the heritage listing requires it. We've handled the Bega DA process before and we'll handle yours.
Bega is a 25-minute drive from our Merimbula base, which means we can be on a roof in Bega within a few hours of your call most days. We're not driving in from Sydney or Canberra to quote your job.
Why Bega roofs need inland specialists.
Inland Bega Valley sits in serious bushfire country. The 2019-20 Black Summer fires burned through more than 60% of Bega Valley Shire and destroyed 467 homes locally. A lot of the rebuilds since have moved to BAL-rated construction, and the roof is one of the most important parts of meeting that rating. The good news is that steel sheet (Colorbond, Zincalume) is non-combustible and meets every BAL classification from BAL-LOW through BAL-FZ (flame zone). On most BAL-rated Bega builds, a properly installed steel roof is the standard answer.
The bushfire angle is the one we lead with for any inland Bega job. If your property has been assigned a BAL rating (you can check on the NSW RFS Bushfire Prone Land tool by address), we'll spec the roof system to match. That includes the sheet itself, the underlay, gutter guards where required, and ember-proof flashings around penetrations like vents and skylights. If we're not sure of the rating on your block, we'll find out before we quote.
Storm damage is the second factor. The East Coast Lows that come through in June and July push winds and rainfall through the valley that lift ridge caps, tear flashings off, and find every weakness in an old roof. The May 2025 East Coast Low brought damaging weather right through the Far South Coast, and we were on roofs across the Bega Valley the week after. If a storm has come through and you're not sure what state your roof is in, call us and we'll come and have a look.
For heritage homes in Bega town specifically, there's a Council process to follow. We've been through it before. We'll do the documentation Council asks for and we'll work with the materials and profiles that match the heritage listing. It adds a small bit of admin to the job but it doesn't slow things down materially, and we know how to handle it.

What Sapphire Coast homeowners say.
We'd had three other roofers look at the leak before Merimbula Roofing. They were the first ones who actually went up and inspected the whole thing instead of guessing. Fixed it the first time.
We're in Canberra, the house is in Tathra. They sent us photos at the end of each day and the job came in on the quoted price. Made the whole thing painless.
