We're in Canberra, the house is in Tathra. They sent us photos at the end of each day and the job came in on the quoted price. Made the whole thing painless.
Pambula roofers. Coastal homes done properly.
Pambula sits just south of Merimbula across the estuary, and a lot of the homes share the same salt-air exposure as Merimbula Beach itself. We're a 10-minute drive away in Merimbula and we know the local housing stock down to the build year.

What we do in Pambula.
Pambula is the village just south of Merimbula across the lake estuary, with Pambula Beach proper a few minutes further on. The housing mix splits into the older village core (timber and weatherboard cottages, some dating to the 19th century, mostly on Colorbond or restored terracotta), the post-war and mid-century beach houses around Pambula Beach (typically 1960s-80s build, lots of brick-and-tile), and a steady run of newer Colorbond builds out toward Yowaka Crescent and the rural-residential blocks inland. The Pambula village heritage character is something we watch for on the older properties.
Most Pambula jobs are coastal jobs. Pambula Beach sits right on the ocean and the village isn't far behind. The salt-air corrosion factor is real, and for any home within five kilometres of the water (essentially the whole Pambula postcode) we'd usually recommend Colorbond Ultra over standard Colorbond. The cost premium is modest, the lifespan difference in salt-air zones is significant, and BlueScope's own warranty terms reflect it. We'll put the recommendation in writing.
We handle new roof installations, full re-roofs (Colorbond, Zincalume and stainless on the harshest jobs), tile restoration on the older Pambula homes where the structure is sound but the terracotta has fretted, leak repairs, and storm damage after the East Coast Lows. Pambula is a ten-minute drive from Short Street in Merimbula. We can be on a roof in Pambula the same morning you call.
Why Pambula roofs need coastal specialists.
Salt air does specific things to a Pambula roof that an inland roofer never has to deal with. BlueScope's own data is straightforward: standard Colorbond's warranty drops to zero on any home within 100 metres of the ocean or salt water, and the company recommends washing coastal roofs every six months to flush salt off the coating. Pambula Beach homes sit right inside that 100-metre zone. The estuary and lake-front Pambula village homes aren't far behind.
The four failure modes show up on Pambula roofs the same way they do everywhere on the Sapphire Coast. Rust streaks under the fastener heads, because the cap of the screw is the highest exposed point and the seal fails first. Lichen and moss colonies on the southern face where the sun never dries the surface out. Paint peel along the gutter edge after 10 to 15 years, because the drip line holds salt water longest between rain events. And on the older terracotta-tiled Pambula homes, fretting, where the surface crumbles and grit washes into the gutters after rain.
For Pambula homes we'd typically spec Colorbond Ultra. It's the marine-grade variant with significantly better salt-air resistance than standard Colorbond. On the closest Pambula Beach jobs we'll often add stainless-steel fasteners as well, and we'll always specify the appropriate underlay for coastal conditions. Whatever we recommend goes on your written quote with the reasoning.
The June to August East Coast Low season is the storm period that does the most damage. The May 2025 East Coast Low brought heavy weather right through Pambula and the surrounding estuary country. If your Pambula roof has taken a hit, call us and we'll come and have a look.

Sydney or Canberra owner with a Pambula place?
Plenty of homes in Pambula and Pambula Beach are owned by people who live in Sydney or Canberra and use the place as a weekender. We do a lot of work for owners who can't easily be on site. We go out for the on-site inspection, send the quote in writing within 48 hours, and once you've signed off we book in a fixed start date. From there we send photo updates at the start, middle and end of every working day. Handover happens by phone or photo set, with whoever you've nominated on the Pambula end.
If your tenant or property manager has flagged storm damage on the roof, give us a call. We can usually have eyes on a Pambula roof inside the same day, and we'll send photos and a written report before we touch anything.
What Sapphire Coast homeowners say.
Quoted exactly what they said they would. Showed up on the day they said. Cleaned up properly at the end of each day. Roof looks better than the day we bought the place.
We'd had three other roofers look at the leak before Merimbula Roofing. They were the first ones who actually went up and inspected the whole thing instead of guessing. Fixed it the first time.
